It was remade in Tamil as Unnaipol Oruvan and Telugu as Eeenadu, with Kamal Hassan donning the role played by Naseeruddin Shah in the original and Mohanlal and Victory Venkatesh playing the role acted by Anupam Kher in the original in Tamil and Telugu respectively. A Common Man is the official remake in English starring Ben Kingsley and Ben Cross.
